Local Resources

Cathedral City Senior Center

Dedicated to improving the quality of life for adults age 55 and older living in Cathedral City and surrounding communities. As a nonprofit organization, the center supports both active and home-bound older adults through programs and services designed to promote health, happiness, well-being, and social connection. The center offers a wide range of social, recreational, educational, and health-related activities for more than 600 members and other community participants. Programs include art classes, bingo, crafts, bridge, bunco, mahjong, exercise and dance classes, computer classes, and health education lectures. In addition, the center works with community partners to connect older adults with valuable resources such as healthcare referrals, food assistance programs, Medicaid and Medicare support, housing referrals, caregiver resources, utility assistance information, and legal aid services.

Mizell Center Full of Life

Mizell is the only Meals on Wheels provider serving the Coachella Valley, including Cathedral City, preparing and delivering more than 600 nutritious meals each weekday to homebound older adults. The organization has served the Coachella Valley senior community for more than 50 years and operates as a non-denominational, community-based nonprofit.

Senior Advocates of the Desert

Founded to help low-income older adults access the government benefits and support services they may qualify for through a simple, personalized process. The organization helps seniors navigate often confusing application systems for programs and public assistance, recognizing that many older adults become frustrated or discouraged when trying to obtain help on their own. Staff work directly one-on-one with clients, advocating on their behalf to help ensure they receive the benefits and services they are entitled to.

Riverside County Office on Aging

Serves as the designated Area Agency on Aging for Riverside County under both the Older Americans Act and the Older Californians Act. Helps develop and coordinate a system of care focused on supporting vulnerable older adults and adults with disabilities. Services and support may include caregiver assistance, nutrition programs, transportation resources, care coordination, health and wellness programs, and other safety-net services intended to help older adults remain safe and supported within the community.
