Handmade Hearts That Help Older Adults Afford Care 💗

Elder Love USA is the only nonprofit caregiving agency in the state of California. Founded in 2016, our mission is to make home care more affordable for older adults and their families. We are able to keep care accessible through a combination of client support, partnerships, individual donations, sponsorships, grants, and creative fundraisers.
One of those creative fundraisers is Art From the Heart! Art From the Heart is a community fundraiser where people decorate wooden hearts and donate them back to Elder Love USA.
The hearts are then auctioned to raise money that helps us continue reducing the cost of home care for older adults.
This fundraiser is creative, fun, and meaningful. But it also comes at an important time.
The Cost of Home Care Is Rising
Home care helps older adults remain safe, supported, and independent at home.
Caregivers can assist with bathing, dressing, meals, light housekeeping, transportation, companionship, medication reminders, and other daily needs.
Without this support, many older adults may be left to struggle alone, rely heavily on family caregivers, or face greater risks such as falls, isolation, poor nutrition, or hospitalization.
Unfortunately, home care is becoming even more expensive.
According to AARP, home care prices increased 7.9% between May 2025 and May 2026, nearly double the overall inflation rate of 4.2%. This increase is especially difficult for middle-class older adults.
Many don't qualify for government assistance because they are just over the income or asset limits, but they still cannot afford the full cost of care on their own.

A Creative Fundraiser With a Real Purpose
You can still be part of our Art From the Heart Fundraiser by getting a wooden heart, decorating it, and sending it back to Elder Love USA.
Anything goes when it comes to designing your heart. You can use paint, glitter, stickers, ribbon, buttons, fabric, beads, markers, flowers, sequins, magazine cutouts, photos, gems, or any other creative materials you love.
Once your heart is finished, send it back to us and we will include it in our auction.
