Caregiving can feel like stepping into a system you were never taught how to navigate.

It can be hard to know what help is available, what your loved one may qualify for, or where to even begin.

For caregivers who feel overwhelmed, 211 may be a helpful first call.

What Is the Caregiver Support Program?

The Caregiver Support Program is a partnership between AARP and United Way Worldwide.

The program helps caregivers connect with trained Community Resource Specialists who can guide them toward services and support in their area.

The program is available in 32 states and Puerto Rico. In California, however, the specialized caregiver support program appears to be available regionally through Interface 211 of Ventura County.

The community resource specialist can help you search for local services for both you and the person you care for.

Including but not limited to:

  • Housing

  • Food assistance

  • Employment support

  • Transportation

  • Emotional support

  • Caregiver resources

  • Services for older adults and people with disabilities

  • Other community-based support program

The service is free, confidential, available 24/7, and offered in more than 180 languages.

To get connected with local support, call: 211
